From 29 September to 1 October 2026, the Resilient HydroTwin team joined the DST–NWO Water Disaster Management Mid-Term Review in Chennai, hosted by IIT Madras.

The three-day meeting brought together researchers, practitioners and stakeholders from India and the Netherlands. Through project presentations, panel discussions, stakeholder sessions and field visits, participants reviewed progress and discussed how research can better support flood-risk management.

Contributions from our team focused on compound-flood modelling, human behaviour during emergencies, the governance of flood-resilience decisions and semantic and software backbone of the digital twin, enabling the integration and exchange of data, models and tools across project partners and stakeholders.

By bringing these areas together, the project aims to help authorities examine how floods may develop, how residents may respond and which interventions could reduce risk. In the Rotterdam and Tambaram case studies, this work can support evacuation planning, infrastructure investment and adaptation strategies suited to local conditions and priorities.

The meeting also provided an opportunity for the three DST–NWO projects to exchange methods, experiences and lessons from their respective case studies.
